Escorted Tour: Cuba Birdwatching 

Cuba is a wonderful place to go bird watching. The warm temperatures that Cuba enjoys, in conjunction with its exotic Caribbean location make Cuba one of the best places in the world to go bird watching. Cuba has a total of 350 different species of bird that are indigenous to Cuba, and keen bird watchers willing to be patient and put in the time are likely to see a great number of these birds while birding in Cuba.
 

Day 1: UK - Havana
Arrival at Havana s International Airport and transfer to your hotel. Overnight accommodation at hotel Telégrafo or similar in Old Havana on BB basis.

Day 2: National Park La Güira
Morning visit to La Guira National Park located in the Sierra De Los Organos. This
National Park stretches over 21,850 hectares and offers picturesque valleys and hidden caves. We will begin our observation from here and hopefully see the Olive Capped Warbler , the Cuban Solitaire and discover a Cuban Trogon – country s national symbol. Around noon, we check-in at Mirador San Diego De Los Banos located some 5km away from the Guira park. Lunch will be served at the hotel. In the afternoon we shall return to the park again to enjoy this magnificent environment and birds little paradise. Dinner and overnight at the hotel Mirador de San Diego.

Day 3: Soroa
Morning bird watching tour and return to the hotel for lunch. In the afternoon we travel to Soroa. Dinner and overnight at Hotel Soroa.

Day 4: Soroa - Las Terrazas - Soroa
After breakfast we travel to the community Las Terrazas where we can observe a variety of birds species in this area belonging to the Sierra Rosario. In Las Terrazas we stop for lunch and before we return to Soroa, you will have a chance to do some more of the bird watching. Dinner and overnight at Hotel Soroa.

Day 5: Soroa - Guama ( Cienaga de Zapata National Park )
After breakfast your journey continues to the Peninsula Zapata. The peninsula is only sparsely populated and consists mainly of mangrove swamps. However, the Parque National De Cienaga De Zapata is one of the most extensive and nicest wild resorts in the Caribbean. Here you will find about 150 different birds species including a Cuban Green Parrot, Cuban Parakeet, Cuban Pygmy Owl, Zapata Crake, Bee Hummingbird, Spotted Rail, Yellow-breasted Crake, Stygian Owl, Blue-headed Quail Dove, Key West
Quail Dove, Grey-headed Quail Dove, Great Antillean Nightjar, Red-shouldered Blackbird, Fernandina s Flicker, Gundlach s Hawk, Cuban Crow, Masked Duck and Snail Kite. Lunch provided in a local restaurant. Overnight accommodation at Guama on full board basis.

To reach Guama Hotel you must have a 30minute boat transfer with your luggage and go through canals and La Laguna Del Tesoro or Treasure Lake. Guama is a magical and unique place similar to Tortuguero National Park in Costa Rica. The standard of accommodation is basic but nice. The location is Magical!

Days 6, 7, 8: Guama ( Cienaga de Zapata National Park )
On these couple of days we have 2 spectacular excursions to look forward to, one of which is a day trip visiting the areas such as Arroyone, Las Salinas, Las Bermejas and Santo Thomas, where you will be able to identify an extraordinary variety of birds including: Cuban Parrot, Cuban Parakeet, Barelegged Owl, Clapper Rail, Spotted Rail, Blue-headed
Quail Dove, Antillean Nightjar and many more. Overnight accommodation at Guama on full board basis.

Day 9: Guama - Havana
After breakfast we can admire birds in the birds natural paradise in the Parque National De Cienaga De Zapata for the last time. Boat transfer back to main land where your coach will be waiting for you to transfer you through to Havana. Overnight accommodation at hotel Telégrafo or similar in Old Havana on BB basis.

Day 10: Adiós Cuba!
Transfer to airport in time for your flight home.
